Wake up at 9:00am
Assuming that you didn’t party the night before, waking up at 9:00 am is the best way of getting up to speed with your exam revisions. Studies have proven that the human brain functions at its maximum capacity in the morning. The body is fully charged and ready for a new day of activities. Unlike those who choose to study in the evening, you have an advantage: time.
Generally speaking, there’s not much to do at 9:00 am in the morning. So after you’ve had a healthy breakfast it’s time to get started. Take notes and start prioritizing; don’t go online to check your Facebook status or watch a movie. Yes, we know that a new episode from The Big Bang Theory has just aired, but it can wait. Try to stay focused on your goal and don’t let others distract you. Grab your books and hit the library if you’re feeling sleepy, and remember to take things step by step. Be sure to take a 10 minute break every 1 or 2 hours to clear your head.
Between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm you should turn off your phone. Exam revisions are important as they will help you get high grades. Don’t make compromises, and under no circumstances you should postpone them. After 2:00 pm you’ll have all the time in world for recreation. Overloading your brain with too much information is not good either.
Revision techniques to apply
There are tens of exam revision techniques for college students who want to retain as much information as possible. Obviously, not all of them will match your style, character, and personality. It’s up to you to uncover the easiest and most efficient way to revise your notes. Visual learners are advised to use diagrams, flashcards, theorems, maps, and sketches to study. This form of summarized learning is an excellent way to retain information.
On the other hand, if you’re an auditory learner you are advised to opt for video watching, tutorials, and other forms of audio studying. You can even record your own voice and listen to yourself over and over again, until the information gets stuck to your brain. You can always get together with your colleagues and study together. However, don’t turn your exam revision session into a slumber party. Stay focused on your goal and make use of fun strategies to study.
Make technology your best study buddy
When utilized adequately, advanced technology can truly help you throughout your challenging exam revision. Begin with the basics and don’t use your iPad to play games. Instead, you can download useful apps to help you study, track time, and stay organized. Also, when there’s not enough study material available, you can always turn to e-books and study guides. Social media must not interfere with your study sessions, so you might want to log out of your Facebook account during an exam revision.
Test your abilities online, watch videos and tutorials, and always remember that the sooner you start learning the better. Whether we like it or not, the internet can be our best study buddy for an exam, but we must learn how to use it for our advantage. Distractions are everywhere on the web, but if we keep our browsing to a minimum by accessing only pages that interest us, everything will work just fine.
The above mentioned actions are considered elementary for every student who wants to improve his grades and pass an exam revision session with flying colors. One last tip, don’t forget to sleep at night as you need a lot of energy to wake up at 9, accumulate and retain information.
