Useful tips and ideas from interior design experts

Looking to remodel your home? Going trendy is always a good way to go! However, modern home is ever evolving, so listening to the experts is a smart idea. We’ve rounded up some useful tips and ideas from experts, for your convenience. Dig in!

Freshen up your interior

Calm Colors

Perhaps the most important aspect of any home remodel, colors need a lot of paying attention to. In 2016, some of the major paint and wallpaper brands have decided to embrace quieter and calmer hues. We live in a rather noisy world, so finding some quiet and simplicity in coloring can provide greatly needed relief.

Opt for warmer stone hues, instead of cold greys – this is symbolic of new beginnings and is a great way to provide a calm feeling, even subconsciously. If you are into plain white, don’t worry – this color tends to bring out a feel of sophistication and a modern tone. Keep in mind, though, that you should still go for darker shades of the same color for your ceilings – this will greatly broaden your target room.

Pay attention to natural light

Warm Metals

On the subject of warm, calming colors, you should definitely look to choose warm metal colors for your bathroom and kitchen space, such as brass, copper, rose gold and gold – trendy stuff that continues to dominate in 2016. Regardless of what color of your metal items you opt for, make sure you go for good quality – these items will hardly go out of style. Always choose non-corrosive materials!

Be Functional

Although this may not sound like a trend, it very much is! Functionality, however, is more than a fad – it is useful and will provide your life with ease, especially if you don’t have too much space to work with.

For the lovers of pink theme

I said it many times and I’ll say it again – open floor plans are always a brilliant idea! These clever ways of designing your home’s interior revolve around tearing down the walls between the kitchen, the dining room and the living room, coming up with a large, seamless space that offers comfort and is pleasing to the eye. The open floor plans remain a trend in 2016, but simply tearing down the walls is only the half of it – you still need visual separation for the three “rooms”.

The best way to do this, without compromising functionality is by with a bar – everyone loves these! When it comes to your bar, think about opting for decorative concrete, this is quite popular nowadays. Separate the three rooms with different shades of the same color and make sure to outline a certain “theme” for each of the rooms; this includes decorative materials and other such paraphernalia and we leave this to your own creativity.

Using wood as interior material

Openness

While on the subject of functionality, making your living space open is somewhat a trend in 2016 and has been for some time now. Get rid of the clutter (fight that nasty hoarder part in your mind) and make sure you’ve left a lot of space for moving around. Making your interior open is only the half of it, especially if you are dealing with a likely scenario of lack of space. If your room(s) are somewhat small, you will need to bring about the feeling of openness and this is best done by hanging mirrors onto your walls. Remove the pictures you don’t need and add a large mirror in their place. Place them carefully, so that they reflect as much sunlight as possible into your home.

Make your walls alive

Lighting

When it comes to artificial light, there are several ways to go. You can always opt for ever-popular LED lighting, which might be more expensive than the traditional lighting, but will pay off in the long run and is somewhat eco-friendly.

The 1970s-inspired fixtures have made quite a comeback this year and tend to bring out the relaxed and free-spirited nature of the mentioned era. These can be found for prices quite cheap, so do some window shopping before getting your groovy fixtures.

For a more calming and subtle approach

There you have it, a couple of useful expert tips for remodeling and rearranging your interior. Bottom line: look for a calm, relaxing feel of openness to bring out in your modern home and stick to warm colors and quality metals and you will make your home trendy in no-time!
