Low Cost Ways To Update Your Bathroom

Ideas to freshen up your bathroom

Your bathroom is a place for you to relax and unwind. It can be easy for this serene feeling to be lost if your bathroom is looking tired and not at it’s best. But don’t be worried you don’t need to spend lots of money buying a new bathroom. There are a few simple and low cost ways to give your bathroom an update and keep it looking fresh. Read on to find out how.

Give fixtures a deep clean

One easy way of making your fixtures look like new is by giving them a deep clean. There are loads of cleaning products on the market and this process will instantly refresh your bathroom. You can even create your own household cleaners, using vinegar and lemon juice. These can be used effectively, in a number of ways and are cheaper than most cleaning products. Most of your fixtures will be used on a daily basis and will benefit from having this extra cleaning attention.

Replace old fixtures

If your fixtures are no longer effective or leaking, it might be time to replace them. You may want to buy new taps or improve your shower with a high pressure shower head. These don’t have to be expensive. High costs do not always equal better quality. You just need to shop around and read reviews to find the best deals on top quality products. Having newer fixtures will breath some life back into your sink and make using the bathroom more effective.

Pick a theme and stick with it

When updating a room, I think it is essential to pick a theme and stick to it. You don’t want the design of your bathroom to look confused. Your design can be updated easily. Buy a coloured or printed bath set, which includes bath mats and towels. These will provide some unity to your room and should always compliment your theme.

Freshen up with new paint

Touching up the paint work will make your room look like new in no time. You can either touch up the existing paint work or choose a different colour. Pick a colour that will be visually pleasing when you’re taking a soak. You don’t want something that is going to give you a headache. Painting your bathroom cabinets and replacing their handles is another fresh look idea.

Inject glamour into the space

Why not bring in some artwork or decorative mirrors to your bathroom? It’s an easy way of adding some personality and injecting some glamour into the space. You could use some artwork you already have or even make some for yourself. These can be as large or as small as you like. If you have a tiled bathroom and unable to hang pictures, you can use accessories instead. Why not place some candles on your work surface? or maybe a vase or small ornaments? By placing items such as these you are adding interest to the space, without spending too much.

You really don’t have to spend a fortune updating your bathroom. Try to determine exactly what needs updating or replacing and start from there. All your bathroom needs is some TLC.
